What is Prenatal Yoga?

Prenatal Yoga is incredibly valuable in supporting mums-to-be to have a calm and joyful pregnancy. Studies have shown that women who do two, 60-minute yoga classes per week have an easier time with birth and parenting*.

Our Prenatal Yoga classes are designed specifically to meet the needs of pregnant women. They offer mums-to-be an opportunity to slow down and connect with their changing body and growing baby within. The classes include deep relaxation, (Yoga Nidra), breathing techniques and meditation. The classes are ideal for mums who have reached their 12th week of pregnancy.


What Happens in a Typical Class?

The intimate, friendly class setting creates a sense of community among mums-to-be. Our small classes also allow the teacher to meet the differing needs of each student and modify postures where necessary to ensure every mum is comfortable and at ease.

In each class mums will practice the following:

  • Postures (Asana)
  • Breath work (Pranayama)
  • Deep Relaxation (Yoga Nidra)
  • Meditation
  • Visualisation
  • Affirmation
  • Chanting (Mantra Meditation)
  • Calming and Active Birthing Skills

Who are Prenatal Yoga Classes Suitable For?

Manly Yoga’s Prenatal Yoga classes are suitable for all pregnant women from their 12th week of pregnancy (second trimester). However, if you are a regular yoga student whose body is used to attending regular yoga classes, you can start earlier. It’s always best to check with your doctor first if you have any concerns at all.


Is Prior Yoga Experience Required?

No, all levels of experience are warmly welcomed into the class. Prenatal yoga truly is a class for mums of all levels of ability.


About the Teacher

Radha Vine is an experienced Prenatal Yoga teacher. She practiced yoga throughout her three pregnancies; and since then she has taught Prenatal Yoga consistently for over 10 years. She is also the Prenatal Yoga module coordinator on the Diploma of Yoga Teacher Training at Mangrove Yoga Ashram.

Along with her practical wisdom from years of experience, Radha also brings skills and knowledge as a trained natural birth educator with She Births. It is Radha’s mission in life to support women to have a calm and empowered pregnancy and birth experience. Throughout every class, her students learn calm birthing skills so they are more fully prepared when the big day arrives.
